After gaining a considerable amount of weight for the biographical sports drama "Dangal," Aamir Khan says he now has to lose 55 pounds and build a muscular phsique to play the role of wrestler Sushil Kumar for the film's next shooting schedule, according to the Times of India.

"I have put on weight for 'Dangal' and have to reduce it as well. I am a national level wrestler like Sushil Kumar Jr. I had to put on 25 kgs, so have to now reduce 25 kgs and not just that make it look like Sushil Kumar...Muscular, low-fat," revealed Aamir during the press conference for "Rang De Basanti's" 10th anniversary celebration.

In "Dangal," Khan plays the character of Haryana-based wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, who teaches wrestling to his daughters Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat and wins accolades for the country.

"The phase of being overweight and elderly is about to get over, and I've started losing weight and this 10-15 percent will be shot in June, so my next big challenge is to come back into shape like how my body was in 'Ghajini' or 'Dhoom 3' and I have to make this body now. The process has started and my weight has started reducing now," he added, according to NDTV.

The film, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, also stars Sakshi Talwar as Phogat's wife, Daya Kaur. Known for being a perfectionist, Khan has been working hard on the film and even suffered a minor injury on the set in November, as HNGN previously reported.

"Dangal" is slated to hit theaters on Dec. 23.
