Common hair problems like dull, damaged and dry hair can be avoided with proper hair care and maintenance. Follow these tips below to keep your crowning glory in best form:

1) Be smart about shampoo use.

Shampoos come in different variants that may promise you healthy and better-looking hair, but what you should look for is a good shampoo for hair damage and repair. You should also consider one that nourishes your scalp and not just the strands, according to Livingly.

2) Handle wet hair carefully.

Skip hair washing on some days to minimize breakage and frizz. Hair is more vulnerable when wet, so if you wash often, damage happens often as well. Use a comb and not a brush with wet hair, and always towel dry first before applying products.

"Use dry shampoo instead of washing your hair every day. It will help reduce the oil build up in your hair and gives amazing texture," celebrity stylist Mark Townsend says, according to Stylist.

3) Avoid showering in warm water.

Warm water can lead to dryness and wash down hair color faster (if you're into hair dyes), according to Real Simple. In the same manner, minimize use of hair dryer and other heated hair styling products. If you have to, use the low setting and keep the tool a few inches away from your hair, not very close to it.

4) Do intensive treatment once a week.

The frequency of deep conditioning and intensive hair treatment can be adjusted depending on the length and thickness of your hair, but most hair experts will advise incorporating this treatment to your hair routine to give your hair extra moisture and hydration.

5) Use a good brush and brush properly.
