FOX News responded to Donald Trump on Monday after he indicated that he might boycott Thursday's GOP debate on the network, saying the Republican front-runner is afraid of anchor Megyn Kelly.

"Sooner or later Donald Trump, even if he’s president, is going to have to learn that he doesn’t get to pick the journalists - we’re very surprised he’s willing to show that much fear about being questioned by Megyn Kelly," a FOX News spokesperson said, according to Mediaite.

The FOX News response came after Donald Trump made comments on Monday about Kelly's ability to act fairly as a moderator of Thursday's debate in Iowa ahead of the Iowa caucuses.

"I'm not a fan of Megyn Kelly. I don't like her, she probably doesn't like me but that's OK, but she has to be fair," Trump told CNN. "I don't think she can treat me fairly, I think she's very biased."

Trump also suggested he might skip the debate altogether unless he could be sure Kelly would treat him fairly. At the same time, however, Trump noted that he benefits from participating, saying, "That doesn't mean I don't do the debate. I like doing the debates. I've won every single debate according to every poll."

Over the weekend, Trump said in a tweet that Kelly's "conflict of interest and bias" should mean "she should not be allowed to be a moderator" in the upcoming debate. FOX News responded on Saturday, saying in a statement, "Megyn Kelly has no conflict of interest. Donald Trump is just trying to build up the audience for Thursday's debate, for which we thank him," according to The New York Times.

The feud between the two began when, in the first GOP debate in August, Kelly asked Trump about a history of disparaging comments toward women.
