"Lord of the Rings" gets the next-gen treatment in the title "Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor" using a new gaming system, Warner announced.

"Through the Nemesis System, enemy relationships and characteristics are shaped by player actions and decisions to create personal archenemies that remember and adapt to the player and are distinct to every gameplay session," Warner said in a news release. "Gamers are able to craft their own battles, enemies and rewards within the dynamic world that remembers and adapts to their choices, delivering a unique experience to every player."

The game will be a third-person action game that will stay true to the original story, but will be separate form the "Lord of the Rings."  The narrative of the game will involve the "Rings of Power," and align with "Lord of the Rings."

"In the game's original story, players will control the ranger Talion, whose family is murdered just before he is at the hands of the evil Sauron's forces. Resurrected with Wraith abilities, Talion heads to Mordor to destroy those who wronged him and his family," according to Polygon.

The game is currently in development for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One along with Windows PC.  Warner has partnered with Monolith, the game developers behind  "Guardians of Middle-Earth."

"Players will explore the dark and very personal theme of vengeance in a world where decisions have a consequence, and those consequences persist even after death," Warner's Samantha Ryan said in a news release.  "The game introduces new gameplay mechanics to the action genre, creating opportunities for emergent and customized gameplay that will be rewarding for players."

There is no set launch date for "Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor," but the title is rumored to be released in 2015.
