Amazon Prime subscribers who are fond of games now have something extra to look forward to, as the e-commerce giant announced Tuesday that Prime members would start enjoying a 20 percent discount on all pre-orders and new releases, according to PC World.

However, the new offer only applies to physical games. Thus, digital downloads, as well as product bundles, would not be affected by the new discount. Despite these factors, the deal is still quite significant, since the discounts could be applied for limited edition games and Amazon's massive library of console titles.

Amazon said that Prime members would not need to sign up for anything additional to enjoy the 20 percent discount. Upon checkout, the rebate would automatically be applied. The discount is permanent, not just a limited-time offer, reported Pocket Lint.

The new discount seems to be a response to Best Buy's long-running and successful Gamers Club Unlocked program, which costs $29.99 for 24 months and offers a number of competitive deals, including a 20 percent discount in purchases of new games.

Amazon Prime costs $99.99 a year, though it must be noted that together with the permanent 20 percent discount, Prime members also enjoy two-day shipping for eligible purchases on the company's massive online store, unlimited streaming of movies and TV shows with Prime Instant Video, and unlimited streaming of music online through Prime Music, according to Polygon.

The new discount is slated to become available to all prime members starting Tuesday and is also set to be applied to any existing pre-orders.
