Montreal Canadiens forward Alex Galchenyuk was involved in a "violent altercation" with girlfriend Chanel Leszczynski on Saturday night that resulted in Leszczynski's arrest, according to La Presse.

Per police, Galchenyuk threw a party at his home after the Habs' 3-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday. Leszczynski showed up late and at some point she and Galchenyuk got into an altercation that led to her arrest.

"Officers from the Police Service of the City of Montreal (SPVM) were dispatched to the scene," according to La Presse. "Reportedly, the officers questioned Mr. Galchenyuk and guests, as well as customers and building staff. Ms. Leszczynski was arrested after being identified as the instigator of the fight. While the Canadiens player has chosen not to file a complaint of domestic violence Procedure requires the police to forward the case to prosecutors for review."

Jean-Daniel Debkoski, Leszczynski's lawyer, would not comment on the matter.

Galchenyuk's teammate Devante Smith-Pelley was also said to be in attended at the soiree.

The 21-year-old Galchenyuk is a former first-round pick of the Canadiens. His name has popped up in unsubstantiated trade rumors this season, even as Galchenyuk has stepped his game up significantly. He now has 10 goals and 27 points in 43 games this year.
