The match carries significant weight for both sides. Manchester United have been under scrutiny for narrowly escaping third-tier Sheffield 1-0 on Jan. 7, according to ESPN, leading Manager Louis van Gaal to call his side "Boring" according to BBC Sport.

However, United still sit in fourth place in the Premier League and have results in their last three matches.

Van Gaal will be without German midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger on Tuesday. Schweinsteiger suffered a knee injury against Sheffield and will be unavailable, according to the Metro.

Despite the injury to Schweinsteiger, United midfielder Marouane Fellaini is up for the challenge from Newcastle.

"Tuesday against Newcastle will be tough; it is always tough there but we started the New Year well so we have to continue that," Fellaini said, according to Man UTD.

The match carries particular importance for Newcastle. Currently in 18th place and two points up on Sunderland, the club is in danger of relegation for the second time since 2007.

Newcastle has struggled to score all season and haven't found the back of the net since Dec. 19. Manager Steve McClaren knows that will have to change if his side stands a chance against United.

"We're just not putting the ball in the back of the net. We're not scoring enough goals. It's not rocket science, that's plain to see. On the day we've got to step forward and take the opportunities and the chances," McClaren said, according to Chronicle Live.

McClaren is will be looking to use every advantage he has to take three points from United.

"We need 52,000 people, the place rocking, getting behind the players and making it a good performance all round," McClaren said.
