Manchester United is willing to pay Neymar's $206 million dollar release clause in order to bring the Brazilian to Old Trafford, according to French newspaper Le 10 Sport.

Neymar is currently in contract talks with Spanish side Barcelona, however talks have started to break down, according to the Daily Star. The report claims that Manchester United Manager Louis van Gaal will activate Neymar's release clause this coming summer and tempt the 2015 Ballon d'Or nominee with huge wages.

A move involving a player of Neymar's quality seems unlikely, but according to Sport, Barcelona is facing financial constraints and has "no money" to spend during the January transfer window.

Acquiring a player of Neymar's talent and status is a long shot for most clubs, however Manchester United's buying power makes it a possibility. A move was discussed last summer when United tried to lure Neymar from Barca with a $205 million dollar offer that was rejected.

"We had conversations, but there was nothing concrete. I heard that there were offers but none were made to me," Neymar said, according to the Mirror.

Teaming with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, Neymar completes the most dangerous attacking front in soccer, making it appealing for the Brazilian to stay in Spain, according to Bleacher Report.

It is possible the links between Neymar and Manchester United are being used as leverage for a bigger deal with Barcelona. However, Spanish football expert Guilem Balague thinks it is likely that Neymar is growing restless playing behind Messi, and is looking to get out from Messi's shadow in order to grow as a soccer player, according to Talk Sport.

Reports suggest the move won't happen until the summer, but acquiring Neymar would be the signing that van Gaal has been looking for according the Metro.
