Activision and Infinity Ward released the latest installment in the "Call of Duty" franchise earlier this week with the release of "Ghosts." Now someone has discovered a cut scene from the new game that is literally a shot for shot remake of the ending to "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2."

Many were quick to accuse "Call of Duty: Ghosts" and its developers, Activision and Infinity Ward, of resting on their laurels and lazily reskinning old cut scenes together but, as IGN points out, the scene is likely more of an homage to the previous game's development team.

Modern Warfare 2's Simon 'Ghost' Riley provided a lot of inspiration for the team when creating Ghosts and it's possible that the development team on "Call of Duty: Ghosts" simply wanted to pay tribute to the games that came before it.

You can check out the video of the two cut-scenes side by side below. It's important to note that without context the scene is relatively spoiler free but it is a scene from the ending of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" as well as a prominent scene from "Call of Duty: Ghosts." No real plot points are given away in the brief 18 second video, but if you're extra cautious about spoilers, consider this your warning.

"Call of Duty: Ghosts" takes place in a completely different universe from the "Modern Warfare" trilogy. The story for the new game takes place in a post-apocalyptic near future in a world that has been torn apart by war. The game centers around the idea of a family of soldiers that must battle against heavier forces and inconceivable odds in order to save what's left of the world. The story will motivate players to take on these heavy forces by making it very character driven with people caring less about saving the world, which has already been destroyed, and more about helping out your in-game family.
