The New York Jets were eliminated from the playoffs with a loss to AFC East rival the Buffalo Bills on Sunday 22-17. The Jets also lost star defensive lineman Muhammad Wilkerson with a broken leg on Sunday, and the injury could not have come at a worst time, as he was set to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini.

The Jets reportedly were waiting until the end of the 2015 season before they began negotiating a contract with Wilkerson, and it will be interesting to see what happens during this offseason following his injury. The Jets star defensive lineman was having one of his best seasons since being drafted in the first round in 2011, and he had recorded a career-high 12 sacks this year.

The Jets controlled their own playoff destiny going into Sunday's game, but quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had arguably his worst game of the year, throwing three interceptions after a tremendous season. Fitzpatrick is set to become a free agent this offseason, and after throwing for 3,724 yards with 29 touchdowns to 12 interceptions, he is likely to have a few suitors. It will be interesting to see what the Jets do this offseason, as Fitzpatrick clearly produced on the field but had arguably his worst performance at the most important time.

The Pittsburgh Steelers clinched the final wildcard playoff spot with New York's loss and look to be an extremely dangerous team going into the AFC postseason bracket.
