New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin is reportedly expected to resign this upcoming Monday following the Giants' regular season finale against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports. The Giants 12-year head coach is reportedly expected to "ride off in the sunset," following Sunday's game, according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer.

The Giants have not made the playoffs since 2011 when they won the Super Bowl and have since posted a 28-35 record leading up to Sunday's matchup. Many wondered if the long-time Giants head coach would return in 2016, and it seemed like the organization was not immediately going to fire him after missing the postseason for the fourth-straight season.

Coughlin's entire family is attending the Giants game this weekend, but he has not revealed his plans to them, according to ESPN' Dan Graziano. Coughlin has had an incredible 12-seasons in New York, including two Super Bowls, but the ride has clearly had its ups and downs, as he has only posted a record of 102-89 since joining the Giants in 2004. Whether Coughlin decides to retire, resign or continue coaching, he will forever be remembered as one of the greatest coaches in Giants history and for leading the 2007 Giants to an improbable Super Bowl victory over the undefeated New England Patriots.

Reports have already surfaced as to who the Giants could target should Coughlin resign, and Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels could be a potential candidate. New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton reportedly has a strong interest in the Giants head coaching position, but multiple teams around the league may try to acquire the coveted head coach, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. Payton is still under contract, and the Giants would likely have to put an enticing trade on the table for the Saints to consider trading their only Super Bowl-winning coach in their history.
