The San Francisco 49ers are reportedly thinking about firing head coach Jim Tomsula, and former Eagles head coach Chip Kelly is reportedly under strong consideration for the head coaching position, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

The 49ers currently have one of the worst records in the NFL, and first-year head coach Jim Tomsula has yet to hear anything regarding his future with the organization, according to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area. Tomsula's position as head coach reportedly could have been affected by how the team played in their final three games, and the past two games have looked very unimpressive, with the team losing by double digits in both of them.

In Tomsula's defense, San Francisco is clearly depleted in talent, with players like Patrick Willis and Justin Smith retiring at the end of last season. The 49ers also lost a young talented linebacker in Chris Borland, as he decided to leave football early for health reasons. The front office clearly deserves some of the blame, and CEO Jed York asked to be blamed if the team did not deliver a Super Bowl after firing head coach Jim Harbaugh last season.

While many 49ers fans are calling for York's job, the fact that his family gave him the job makes it highly unlikely for him to fire himself. That leaves Tomsula to take a majority of the blame, and some believe that the Yorks will delay the firing and give him one last chance to save his job on Monday, according to 49ers reporter Tim Kawakami. General manager Trent Baalke also clearly deserves some of the blame for the issues this season, and the talent on the field is clearly not enough to compete in a strong division with the Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals.

Kelly could be a nice fit in San Francisco, but the organization still has a ton of personnel changes and decisions to make this offseason. Tomsula was reportedly hired in-part because he was a loyal "yes man," and Kelly is clearly anything but that given the way things ended in Philadelphia. The 49ers' Super Bowl appearance against the Baltimore Ravens now feels like the distant past, and San Francisco will now start from the ground up again, as they clearly look to be in rebuilding mode.
