Gaming giant Nintendo is entering the mobile realm with a new app that will allow users to purchase clothes and accessories for their avatars, according to the Daily Mail. The app is called Miitomo and it is set to be released around March 2016. Few details have been released about the new app, but it has been confirmed that the social game will focus on Mii characters.

Players will have the opportunity to customize their avatars with clothing that they can purchase within the app.

The app has gained popularity among younger players, but parents are showing some concern as the ability to make in-app purchases in a game used by children is not always appealing.

Besides purchases, players will also be able to talk to others around the world, play mini-games and puzzles and explore the "Miiverse"' according to the Wall Street Journal.

Nintendo development partner Isao Moriyasu, president of DeNA, explained that the app will separate itself from other social apps in that it will have an acute focus on gaming as well as creating a social experience.

"Miitomo places more emphasis on entertainment. The process of discovering new aspects of your friends via Miis can be quite fun. One distinct aspect of Miitomo is how you can configure your Mii to have it look very similar to yourself," he said. "Communicating with friends who actually look like your friends in real life is a distinctly different feeling from text-based communication."

The app will be free to play, with a possibility to connect to Facebook in the near future, according to Kotaku.
