Christmas came early for a few shows airing on Netflix, HBO and Comedy Central which all received season renewals on Thursday.

"Grace and Frankie" received an early third-season renewal from Netflix, months before its second season premieres. Comedy Central renewed "Nathan For You" for a fourth season, the same day as its third season finale.

HBO has given a third and final season to "The Leftovers." President Michael Lombardo credited co-creators Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta with the decision to wrap the series up after the next season.

"We admire and fully support Damon's artistic vision and respect his decision to bring the show to its conclusion next season," Lombardo said in a statement.

Fox Orders Event Series Examining Racial Tension and Police Shootings

Fox has ordered the drama series "Shots Fired," which follows the aftermath of racially charged shootings in a small town in Tennessee. Gina Prince-Bythewood and her husband Reggie created the project that will examine the current hot-button issues surrounding police shootings and racial tensions.

The show will star Sanaa Lathan, who starred in Prince-Bythewood's film "Love & Basketball." She will play an expert investigator sent by the Department of Justice along with a special prosecutor to better understand the circumstances of racially charged shootings in a small Tennessee town.

TNT Greenlights "Good Behavior" Starring Michelle Dockery and "Animal Kingdom"

TNT has greenlit two new drama series, "Good Behavior" and "Animal Kingdom," for 10 episodes each. Production will begin in early 2016 and both shows will premiere later in the year.

"Downton Abbey" actress Michelle Dockery will star as a sexy and complex ex-con in "Good Behavior," an adaptation of the Letty Dobesh novels by Blake Crouch. "Animal Kingdom," inspired by the 2010 film of the same name, stars Ellen Barkin as the matriarch of a Southern California family whose excessive lifestyle is fueled by her family's criminal activities. Scott Speedman will played her second in command.

Farewell Season of "American Idol" Cut Four Weeks Short

"American Idol" will finish its final season four weeks shorter than in previous years, wrapping up its farewell season on Fox in April, according to Billboard. The decision to condense the season reportedly came from the network.
