Melissa Rivers is paying tribute to her mother, the late Joan Rivers. With the help of some movie magic, Melissa makes a cameo as her famous mother in the upcoming Jennifer Lawrence movie "Joy."

In the David O Russell-directed film "Joy," Lawrence plays the part of real-life entrepreneur Joy Mangano, according to People. Melissa appears as her mother in a scene that is set at a taping of Joan's QVC show.

"It was David's idea," Melissa told People of how she ended up in the film. "I literally one day got a call saying David O. Russell would like to meet you. Huh? What?"

Mellissa did not accept the offer straight away. She said that she had to think about the offer and the emotions that dressing as her deceased mother would bring up. After she finally decided to accept the deal, Melissa said that she credited Russell as well as her family friend and the film's producer John Davis for making her feel comfortable in the part.

"I thought, 'Seriously when am I ever going to get to work with Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and David O. Russell?'" she said. "I was like, 'Okay, I'm in.'"

While Melissa said that she was happy she filmed the role, she did not think she could watch her performance back.

I can't watch myself -- especially like that," Melissa told Entertainment Tonight. "I think I was so focused on the details and trying to do a good job that it never hit me that I took this crazy emotional risk until I got home and went, 'What did I just do?'"
