Talk about keeping it in the family. E! News announced Wednesday that Melissa Rivers will carry on her late mother Joan Rivers' legacy on "Fashion Police."

The 47-year-old actress/philanthropist will join Giuliana Rancic and Brad Goreski as the newest co-host, while also serving as the show's executive producer.

"Fashion Police" is expected to return Aug. 31 with coverage of the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards. The network also announced that two celebrity guests will join the trio for each episode and there will be six episodes through the end of the year.

"As an executive producer since the beginning, Melissa helped shape Fashion Police into an iconic TV series that couples fashion with comedy," Jeff Olde, executive vice president of programming and development for E!, told Variety. "We are pleased to now also feature Melissa in front of the 'Fashion Police' cameras, as she joins returning panelists Giuliana and Brad. And with the added flavor of rotating panelists, the show will deliver fresh, different and unpredictable fashion reviews with each new episode."

Melissa also released a statement, saying, "I'm very excited to be given the opportunity to continue to work with my E! and 'Fashion Police' family."

Joan died in September at 81 after complications from minor throat surgery. "Fashion Police" was put on hiatus after Kathy Griffin, who was brought in to replace Joan, departed the show in March after a few months.

Former co-host Kelly Osbourne, who had been on the show for five years, also quit the show after Rancic made an on-air joke about Zendaya's dreadlock hairstyle at the 2015 Academy Awards.
