"Supergirl" has cast Italia Ricci in a major recurring role that will wreak havoc on Kara both at work and while she protects National City as Supergirl.

Ricci will play Cat Grant's (Calista Flockhart) new hire at CatCo, Siobhan Smythe, who becomes a work nemesis for Kara (Melissa Benoist), according to ET Online. The problems really start for Supergirl when Siobhan transforms into DC villain Silver Banshee.

In the DC Comics, Silver Banshee's powers and abilities include superhuman strength, agility, speed, endurance and a great ability to fight off physical and energy-based attacks. She also has a gift for languages (including animal communication) and uses her sonic-based abilities to weaken her enemies.

Ricci previously starred on the cancelled ABC Family drama, "Chasing Life." Her role on "Supergirl" will start in episode 14.

"We are so excited to be working with Italia. We've been a fan of her work for years and we cannot wait to see her take on this iconic comic book role," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told ET Online.

Keeping it in the Greg Berlanti production family, Ricci's boyfriend, Robbie Amell, recurred last season on The CW's "The Flash" as Ronnie Raymond a.k.a. Firestorm. Amell's cousin, Stephen Amell, is the star of The CW's "Arrow."

"Supergirl" airs on Mondays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
