New Jersey rocker Bruce Springsteen is hitting the road in 2016 with The E Street Band in support of the re-issue of his 1980 album "The River," which was released today, according to a press release obtained via Springsteen's official Twitter account. Dubbed The River tour, the Boss will embark on a nine-week trek beginning Jan. 16 in Pittsburgh at the Consol Energy Center.

The tour runs through a handful of major North American cities, including a stop in Springsteen's native New Jersey Jan. 31 at the Prudential Center in Newark. The tour continues through February and wraps up with two dates, March 15 and 17, in L.A. at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. Tickets go on sale Dec. 11.

Each performance of the 24-date tour will be recorded, mixed and released on Live.BruceSpringsteen.net. Fans will be able to download the high-quality files just days after each concert.

"The Ties That Bind: The River Collection" is a comprehensive four-CD, three-DVD (or four-CD/2Blue-ray) box set that gives fans a deeper look into the 1980 album, which was Springsteen's fifth studio release. The set is considered "Springsteen's best archival release yet," according to Rolling Stone, and features some of the Boss' most iconic hits, like "Hungry Heart" and "Independence Day."
