San Francisco 49ers president Paraag Marathe was reportedly reassigned from team president to the team's salary cap guy and head contract negotiator, and he will take a larger role in the organization's outside business ventures such as the Sacramento Republic soccer team, according to CSN Bay Area reporter Matt Maiocco.

The 49ers have fallen apart this season, and while much of that is due to retiring players in Patrick Willis, Justin Smith and Chris Borland, the team clearly wasn't prepared for the future. San Francisco is in last place in the NFC West with a 3-8 record, and there is no certainty that they will turn it around any time soon.

The 49ers gave quarterback Colin Kaepernick a six-year $126 million contract extension in 2014, and that move is now looking like a terrible decision. Kaepernick was benched for poor play this season, and in nine games, he threw only six touchdowns to five interceptions. Kaepernick's future in San Francisco is uncertain, but reports have stated that he is virtually certain to not return in 2016.

The 49ers quarterback underwent surgery on Nov. 24 to repair a torn labrum, and despite the obvious problems in San Francisco, he plans to conduct his rehabilitation work at the 49ers' facility, according to Maiocco.

The move to reassign Marathe looks to just be the first of a ton of offseason moves that could happen this year. The 49ers are likely to expect a ton of changes this offseason, as their quarterback, head coach Jim Tomsula, and now their president could all be gone after the 2015 season. While Marathe could stay in San Francisco after this season, he is reportedly expected to lose the title of team president, according to Maiocco. The 49ers were in the NFC Championship game against the Seattle Seahawks in 2014, and they have continually spiraled downward since.
