A cat named Miu from Nam Dinh, Vietnam – who weighs an astounding 44 pounds, says her owner – may soon be dubbed the world's fattest cat, reports Nyooztrend.com.

The black-and-white tabby is owned by 75-year-old Tran Thi Nga who adopted him 10 years ago when he was a normal sized kitten.

"I was surprised to see how fast he grew. There was one month where he gained nearly 2 pounds," Nga told the Daily Mail.

"He has very good manners. He never steals food and has very good toilet habits. He loves his milk and likes to take a bath. Although he's big, he can move easily. He even catches rats and jumps up the stairs," said Nguyen Thi Thuy, Nga's daughter-in-law, to the Daily Mail.

Though many people have offered to buy Miu, Nga refuses to sell him. "He is like a friend, or a son, or a grandson of mine," she said according to Thanhnien News.

Miu's weight is yet to be officially confirmed by the Guiness Book of World Records, but once that is done, he may dethrown the current title holder, a German cat named Elvis who weighs in at 38.5 pounds, to become the "world's fattest cat."
