St. Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey was reportedly involved in a shooting incident Tuesday in Miami, according to ESPN's Nick Wagoner.

Stedman was reportedly shot twice in the head while sitting in the car with two young relatives and his cousin, according to a tweet posted by NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, which can be seen below. Stedman is reportedly expected to undergo surgery on Wednesday, according to Rapoport.

The Rams released a statement on the matter, saying, "We are aware Stedman Bailey was involved in an incident this evening. We have spoken with Stedman and he is in the hospital in critical, but stable, condition. We are gathering facts about the situation and will provide updates as we learn more," via the St. Louis Rams team website.

Bailey's cousin, the driver, was shot multiple times and has life threatening injuries, as he was trying to shield the children from bullets, according to Rapoport. The shooter at this time is unknown. Bailey was currently serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy and was a former third round pick by the Rams in 2013. Rams players have taken to their social media accounts to send thoughts and prayer to Bailey. Defensive end Chris Long and linebacker Akeem Ayers both used their Twitter accounts to send prayers to their teammate, which can be seen below.

In three seasons in the NFL, Bailey has 59 receptions for 843 yards and two touchdowns. Bailey is expected to undergo surgery on Wednesday, and more updates are expected to come from the Rams throughout the day.
