Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch missed Sunday's 29-13 win over the San Francisco 49ers, and reportedly is meeting with Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia on Monday to determine if he has a sports hernia, according to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport.

If Lynch has a sports hernia as the team reportedly fears, surgery would come quickly, and he would miss the remainder of the regular season, according to Rapoport. The hope is that if he has the surgery quickly that he could be back in time for the playoffs, according to Rapoport.

Lynch has struggled this season, and has dealt with injuries throughout the year. He is averaging 3.8 yards per carry, which is his lowest average since he first arrived in Seattle in 2010. The Seahawks star running back has only scored three touchdowns this season, and while some of that is on Lynch, their offensive line has also struggled this season.

Rookie running back Thomas Rawls had a huge performance on Sunday rushing for 209 yards while averaging seven yards per carry. Rawls was also effective in the passing game with three receptions for 46 yards and a touchdown. While it's unclear at this time if Lynch will need the surgery, the Seahawks have clearly found a strong replacement for him in Rawls. The Seahawks are hopeful that if he needs surgery, he can make it back for the playoffs. They could have one of the strongest running back combinations in the NFL if they can make the playoffs with Lynch available.

Seattle is 5-5 and sits three games behind the Arizona Cardinals in the AFC West, and will need a wildcard spot to make the postseason if the Cardinals keep winning.
