A Florida man was arrested Sunday after he attempted to rob a local convenience store in Jacksonville while wearing a Darth Vader mask — and the store's surveillance cameras caught the entire incident on tape, reported USA Today.

Jacob Jeremy Mercer, 32, walked into 8 Till Late and pointed his gun at the employees. After a clerk rejected his orders to hand over the cash, another staff member threw a jar of blue cheese dressing at the suspect that caused a serious cut. Mercer then fled the scene.

Eyewitnesses told police that the suspect removed his mask and his face was bloodied by the slash, reported the New York Daily News.

Police located Mercer's silver car that, according to eyewitnesses, had New York license plates. They were able to apprehend him after they asked him to come outside from the residence he was staying in.

Authorities discovered numerous firearms and ammunition in Mercer's bag after he was arrested. He was taken to the Duval County Jail Monday and was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and armed robbery, reported the Daily Mail.
