A yoga class that has been sponsored by the University of Ottawa for seven years has been canceled, following criticisms of "cultural appropriation."

In September, the Centre for Students with Disabilities (CSD) told yoga instructor Jennifer Scharf that the class would not be renewed. Scharf claims the class was killed due to complaints from a "social justice warrior."

"People are just looking for a reason to be offended by anything they can find," Scharf told the Ottawa Sun. "There's a real divide between reasonable people and those people just looking to jump on a bandwagon. And unfortunately, it ends up with good people getting punished for doing good things," Scharf said, according to the Daily Caller.

Scharf taught the CSD sponsored yoga class for seven years.

"I guess it was this cultural appropriation issue because yoga originally comes from India. I told them, 'Why don't we just change the name of the course?' It's simple enough, just call it mindful stretching," Scharf said, according to CBC News.

The CSD has responded to recent criticism via Facebook, claiming the class was actually put on hold for review.

The CSD added a comment stating "[No] one attended the classes so that's why we ended them, its not that hard to understand people, the fact that disabled people are getting harrassed [sic] over this is ridiculous," as reported by the Huffington Post.
