The FBI is examining a mysterious warning which claims the Islamic State terrorist group was planning to attack a World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) event in Atlanta on Sunday night.

The threat was put on the alert by hacking group Anonymous, and while the FBI said it is taking the threat seriously, it does not "have specific or credible information" that the Philips Arena was being targeted.

"We have, however, made the proper notifications as we continue to work closely with our law enforcement and private sector partners to keep our community safe," the statement by the FBI read, according to the New York Daily News.

Despite the threats that were reported by the hacking group on Saturday, the WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view went on as scheduled on Sunday, the Daily Mail U.K. reported.

"WWE and Philips Arena have coordinated with the appropriate agencies and law enforcement, and significantly increased security measures to ensure the safety of all those in attendance, which is our highest priority," WWE, Atlanta Hawks and Phillips Arena also said in a joint statement, according to Channel 2 Action News.

Several countries all over the world, particularly cities in the U.S., have beefed up security in light of the terrorist attacks in Paris that resulted in the deaths of 129 people, as HNGN previously reported.
