TCU head coach Gary Patterson has revealed that wide receiver Josh Doctson will miss the rest of the regular season with a wrist injury, but he could return for the a Bowl game for the Horned Frogs, according to Jim Reineking of College Football 24/7.

The Horned Frogs star wide receiver suffered the injury against Oklahoma State two weeks ago and reportedly saw a specialist about the injury, according to John Taylor of NBC Sports. Doctson has had a huge season for TCU this year, having caught 79 passes for 1,327 yards and scored 14 touchdowns. The senior wide receiver could return for a Bowl game, but the Horned Frogs lost their chance at the College Football Playoff when they lost to Oklahoma State 49-29.

The Horned Frogs barely beat a winless Kansas Jayhawks team last week and have a difficult challenge against a red hot Oklahoma Sooners team this weekend. Patterson said that Trevone Boykin is a maybe to play this weekend against the Sooners after the TCU quarterback suffered a high sprained ankle against the Jayhawks last week, according to Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports.

TCU can put themselves back in the national conversation with wins over Oklahoma and Baylor, but without Doctson and an ailing Boykin, it looks to be a very difficult challenge. It's unclear if Doctson will be able to play for the Horned Frogs again this year, but the senior wide receiver reportedly could be a first round draft pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Doctson has been one of the most electrifying wide receivers in college football this season, and the Horned Frogs offense clearly doesn't look the same without him on the field.
