NFL free agent running back Robert Turbin wasn't on the market long after the Browns released him, as the Dallas Cowboys are reportedly signing the former Seattle Seahawks running back, according to a tweet from NFL reporter Ian Rapoport which you can see below.

The Cowboys are transitioning between two former Seattle Seahawks running backs, as they let go of running back Christine Michael on Tuesday. Michael only attempted 15 carries in Dallas and managed just 51 yards this season. The Cowboys likely didn't see enough out of Michael, and after this past weekend when he averaged just 2.7 yards on three carries the team felt like it was time to part ways.

The Cowboys will now take a look at another former Seattle running back in Turbin, who saw very little playing time in the Browns' system. Turbin has only rushed for 60 yards on 18 carries this season, but was a solid running back in Seattle for three years. Turbin is in his fourth season in the league, and can be a dual threat out of the backfield. In 2014, Turbin rushed for 310 yards averaging 4.2 yards per carry, and caught 16 passes for 186 yards with two touchdowns.

Darren McFadden is clearly the Cowboys top running back, but he struggled this past weekend against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, averaging just 1.9 yards per carry. The Cowboys get franchise quarterback Tony Romo back this weekend against the Miami Dolphins and the addition of Romo brings a deep passing threat, which in turn can open up running lanes.

The Cowboys will likely need to run the table to make the playoffs, but in a weak NFC East it's not impossible to think they could be in contention at the end of this season. Dallas will implement Turbin into its offensive system this week, but are likely hoping the return of Romo will elevate the entire offense.
