Fox has tapped WWE superstar John Cena to host its new military-inspired competition show, "American Grit." Four American heroes, representing the top branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, will join Cena as mentors.

The 10-episode series will split 16 of the country's toughest men and women into four teams to face military-grade and survival-themed challenges together for one to win $1 million. The first team to complete the challenges saves them from elimination.

"The U.S Military is the epitome of resolve and dedication, which is why I am so excited to be a part of 'American Grit,'" Cena said in a statement. "This show will not only be a challenging and fierce competition, but it will give viewers a glimpse into the perseverance and training of the men and women of the Armed Forces."

Their mentors, known as "The Cadre," include Rorke Denver, Noah Galloway, Tawanda "Tee" Hanible and Nick "The Reaper" Irving. "American Grit" will premiere in 2016.
