A new Kickstarter for the Figment VR iPhone case gives users the ability to transform their phone case into a virtual reality (VR) viewer with just the push of a button, according to Engadget. Although Google Cardboard is currently the cheapest VR product on the market, Figment VR trumps it in terms of durability and portability.

The Figment VR is designed to look like a standard iPhone case until you turn it over - on the backside are a pair of lenses that look almost identical to those on Google's Cardboard. The lenses can be flipped over for use by simply sliding the toggle button and manually flipped back to return to its original position.

The Figment VR is designed to be compatible with almost all VR-compatible apps such as Google Cardboard, VRSE, Jaunt VR and the 360-degree videos on Facebook and YouTube, according to The Verge. The product is aiming to be a more durable and portable alternative to Google's VR product.

"When we're designing a phone case, it has to be pocketable," said Zi Wang, Fignment's creator. "It has to offer minimal protection and can't destroy the overall aesthetic of the phone."

The Figment VR is available in both black and white and currently has two versions on its Kickstarter - a standard $49 model and a $59 Plus model, according to Mashable. However, when it hits retail, these models will be priced at $69 and $79, respectively.
