Evangeline Lilly will have the opportunity to suit up as the Wasp in the "Ant-Man" sequel, "Ant-Man and the Wasp," and her on-screen father, Michael Douglas, would like to be there to see it.
In an interview with Collider, Douglas expressed his interest in reprising his role as Hank Pym in the Marvel movie and reported that the studio has reached out to him to negotiate his return.
"I just got a call recently - they want to negotiate for a sequel and I though, 'That's great!'" the 71-year-old actor told Collider. "Hopefully, I won't have to carry quite as much expositional dialogue as the first one but I had a wonderful time doing it."
Paul Rudd, who plays Ant-Man, and Lilly are the only stars from the first film confirmed for the sequel. Director Peyton Reed will also return.
Douglas hopes the next film also welcomes back Michael Peña and even Corey Stoll, whose character, Yellow Jacket, died.
"If they can scrape Corey Stoll of the wall, I'm sure they'll want him too - he's such a good villain," he said.
"Ant-Man and the Wasp" is scheduled to premiere on July 6, 2018. The far-off date is a bit perplexing for the Oscar winner.
"I chuckle about being involved with a movie that already has a release date in 2018. Ya know, it's hard to conceive of that, but it's all good, all the way around, it's all good," Douglas said.
