While we will never know all of the horrors that this pit bull has suffered, we know from the condition he was in when found that they have lasted most of his life. So when he was thrown out on the side of the road and left to die, it lead to his lucky day as it started a chain of events that set him on a new path to the life he deserves, and deserved all along.

A dying pit bull was found in Chester Penn. on Oct. 26 by a pair of teens who called authorities immediately. He had been dumped on the side of the road, where he had just enough energy to drag himself over to some weeds. Emaciated and covered in infected wounds all over his body, the pittie was very near death.

"He was just lying there, all curled up," said police officer Robert Ticknor, who was first on the scene, according to The Huffington Post. "I could see he was losing bodily fluids." Ticknor next called Russ "Wolf" Harper, a humane law enforcement officer and founder of the Justice Rescue.

"He was lying over there in the weeds where someone found him and he was just cold and lifeless. I really thought when I picked him up he was dead," Harper said. Harper named him Remi on the spot, so he would at least have a name if he didn't make it. Harper took Remi to Keystone Veterinary Emergency Clinic for the lifesaving medical care that he needed.

"He's not out of the woods yet. He has shown some signs of improvement since he first came in so that is encouraging, but it's still touch and go," veterinarian Leanne Thompson told Fox 29 after a week of round the clock care for Remi.

And out of the woods he is, thanks to the loving support of the large community of people who fell in love with Remi. The updated video posted on Nov. 12 shows a much improved Remi on his way to his new foster home, where he will continue his recovery, BarkPost noted.

Just look at him now:

While there aren't always the happy ending for animals like Remi who have been broken down and abused for too long, Remi had the will to get through this and thrive on the vet care and love he was lucky to experience, for the first time in his life. Get out the Kleenex and cheer on the one that made it.
