A pitbull, thought never to be seen again delighted its owner when the dog recently surfaced over 1,100 miles away from its Galveston, Texas home eight months after it was taken from the property according to Indianapolis TV station WXIN.

Galveston resident JoeAnn Navarro was ecstatic when the Kokomo Humane Society dialed her up to tell her that a stranger brought one of the dog's, named Blue to the North Indianapolis facility the Associated Press reported.

"Of all the places to be ... Indiana! I couldn't believe it!" Navarro told television station WXIN."And I wish she could talk so she could tell me how she got there!"

Navarro's two Pitbulls were reportedly stolen from her property in May. The kindness of three men and the help of a microchip brought Blue back to Navarro's home in Texas Jan. 18 after the group that included two retired Galvaston Sheriff Deputies journeyed to the Society to retrieve Blue for her according to the Galveston County Daily News.

Kokomo staff traced the microchip attached to Blue to Navarro. They matched the device with Navarro's pet after receiving her name and phone number from the Galveston Humane Society who they contacted upon finding out that the chip wasn't registered.

"The chip went back to Texas," Kokomo executive director Karen Wolfe told WXIN "Well, we were surprised!"

The location of Navarro's other pitbull is not known.
