Jessa Seewald (neé Duggar) and her husband Ben revealed the name of their newborn son in a video announcement posted to Jessa's Facebook page, Entertainment Tonight reported. The new parents took the time to explain the meaning behind their son's first and middle name.

"His nickname has been Quincy since we first found out we were pregnant," Jessa, the former reality star of TLC's "19 Kids and Counting," explained in the clip posted on Facebook. "We've been working on deciding on a name and we finally figured it out."

Ben announced their son's name, Spurgeon Elliot Seewald, and his wife looked at him with a wide smile as he explained the meaning behind their newborn's unusual name.

"Charles Spurgeon was a preacher back in the 19th century," Ben explained. "He had a big impact on our lives and his writings, sermons and books are still around today and they just continue to impact many people."

The couple chose "Elliot" as their son's middle name in honor of Jim and Elisabeth Elliot, who were a husband and wife missionary duo. Jim was killed during his 1956 missionary trip to Ecuador by a native Amazonian tribe, according to Entertainment Weekly. His wife Elisabeth continued her husband's missionary trip and went on to become a Christian author. She passed away at 88 years old this June.

Little Spurgeon Elliot was born on Nov. 5 at 9 pounds, 11 ounces and 21 and one-quarter inches long, Jessa announced.

"He's a precious little bundle of joy," the new mom gushed, "and we're so blessed to call him ours."
