Jessa Duggar and her husband Ben Seewald have made it very clear that both she and their new baby boy are doing well since she gave birth on Thursday, but the process apparently wasn't an easy one.

While trying to give birth in the comfort of her own home, Duggar began suffering complications and was rushed to the hospital, according to TMZ. She was taken by ambulance from one of the family's homes in Fayetteville, Ark. to a local hospital. It is still unclear exactly what happened during the home birth attempt.

Others seem to believe that Jessa could have gone to the hospital without the baby after she gave birth since the photos of him on their website are in their home on Friday morning, according to the Daily Mail. Jessa is also absent from the photos, but the real reason for the ambulance ride, and whether it was before or after she gave birth, still remains unclear.

Home births are nothing new to the Duggar family, as her brother Josh's wife Anna gave birth to their children in their home. Their daughter Mackynzie was born in bed without any doctors in 2009 with help from Josh, Jill and a doula, and she delivered their son Michael while seated on the toilet in 2011. Her sister Jill had also planned for a home birth, but since her son Israel arrived way after the due date, medical intervention was required.
