As expected, Apple has sent out invitations to the press on Tuesday for an Oct. 22 event in San Francisco where the tech giant is expected to unveil new versions of the iPad as well as some other new devices and software from the company.

"We still have a lot to cover," the company wrote in the invite for the event, which will take place at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater.

USA Today reports that Apple has been under pressure from investors to release new gadgets to prop up its shrinking rate of growth. The recent launch of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C increased demand for the company's brand globally. Unfortunately Apple still has a long way to go before it's out of its current sales slump, especially considering the supposed low-cost iPhone 5C was deemed not cheap enough by Wall Street, which was hoping that Apple would do more to take on the low-end market of customers with less income to spend on smartphones.

On Oct. 22 Apple is expected to unveil the fifth generation iPad and the second generation iPad mini with a Retina display. In addition the Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks operating system for Macs will likely receive a release date.

Facing pressure form investors for new gadgets is one thing but as the company saw with the release of the new iPhones, updates to existing innovations might not be enough anymore. That is why many are wondering if the company will take this opportunity to combat its sales rival Samsung and unveil the highly rumored iWatch that it has reportedly been working on in secret for the past few months. The wearable wrist accessory would go head-to-head with the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch unveiled by Samsung weeks ago.

It's unclear as of right now if Apple plans to live stream the event but check back with HNGN closer to Oct. 22 for more information.
