Gaboruey Sidibe isn't going to let the haters who fat shamed her for her "Empire" sex scene get in the way of feeling good about herself.

On last week's episode, Sidibe's character Becky was involved in a steamy rooftop love scene with the character MCJ Poppa, played by actor Mo McRae, and people on social media quickly started posting mean things about it, causing the 32-year-old actress to address the scene and defend herself in a blog post on Entertainment Weekly.

"Also, yes. I, a plus sized, dark-skinned woman, had a love scene on primetime television," she wrote. "I had the most fun ever filming that scene even though I was nervous. But I felt sexy and beautiful and I felt like I was doing a good job. I'm very proud of the work we all did to make that scene a great opening for the episode. I keep hearing that people are 'hating' on it. I'm not sure how anyone could hate on love but that's okay. You may have your memes. Honestly, I'm at work too busy to check Twitter anyway."

What she's referring to is the cruel meme one social media user created with a screen shot from the love scene underneath the words, "Damn, some of you can't even get a text back." The comments only added to the hate as people wrote things like, "yuck" and "now they've gone too far," according to Daily Mail.

"I'm really proud of the work that I've done," she told People, defending herself. "I'm really, really proud of it. I think the scene was really fun and lovely and sexy. I felt beautiful, and I felt comfortable, and I didn't look nervous at all, and I was kind of nervous, so I'm really glad that that didn't come across."

Even her fellow actors and the camera crew complimented her on her work following the scene, making her feel completely accomplished.

"After we were shooting it, the camera guy came over, and he said, 'I've never shot a scene like this. And I've never seen a scene like this.' I was really happy to be a part of something that's never been seen on primetime television before," she continued. "And you don't notice it because you don't have to notice it, but there's never been someone of my skin color, my size, with somebody else of the same skin color in a love scene on primetime television. It's never happened...And I'm not sure why it hasn't happened, but I hope there's more to come."
