If anyone deserves a little love in her life, it's Lucious Lyon's overtaxed assistant Becky. "Empire" has cast Mo McRae to play the boyfriend of Gabourey Sidibe's character in season 2.

McRae will play the handsome and easygoing J-Poppa over a three-episode arc, according to Variety. In addition to his relationship with Becky, he'll also strike up a strong connection with the oldest Lyon son, Andre (Trai Byers).

Becky's boss Lucious (Terence Howard), the head of Empire Records, will start the year in prison for murder. Andre and his mother Cookie (Taraji P. Henson) will try to take advantage of the situation to gain back control of the family company.

McRae currently stars on the TNT series "Murder in the First." His other credits include a recurring role on FX's "Sons of Anarchy" and a role in "The Butler" directed by "Empire" co-creator Lee Daniels.

The Fox hip-hop drama has lined up an already impressive list of guest stars including Mariah Carey, Pitbull, Chris Rock, Marisa Tomei, Ludacris, Alicia Keys, Common, Kelly Rowland, Lenny Kravitz, and Oprah Winfrey.

"Empire" returns on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
