Former Yankees superstar Derek Jeter has announced two big things on his recent post in The Player's Tribune - he is engaged, and his fiancée has given him a dog. Not just any dog, though. Just like the ring that was allegedly spotted on supermodel Hannah Davis' finger, Kane, the Mastiff, is quite ridiculous, weighing in at 100 pounds as he celebrated his first birthday.

Jeter states that he and Kane went off to a rocky start, mainly due to the fact that he was not used to having pets at all. His background in raising dogs stands in stark contrast to that of his fiancée, who had Mastiffs growing up, reported Sporting News.

"When I first got Kane, I panicked a little. I'm lying. Actually, I panicked a lot. We had some epic standoffs at the beginning. He was energetic, thought he was king of the house, and I was a nervous owner. Kane would bite and nip and not pay attention to anything I said. My panicking was probably making him panic," Jeter wrote in his post.

Eventually though, Kane grew to trust the baseball star. In fact, Jeter even states that the 100-pound puppy still likes sitting on his lap. He also noted that as owner and pet, they have become a lot calmer with each other.

Jeter is known to be quite private about his personal life. In fact, the fact that he was engaged was simply included in his post about Kane. Regardless of how private he is, however, one thing is undeniable - that is one awesome dog.
