On a farm in Guangdong, China, a sweet Akita named Gouzai, who had recently given birth to a litter of her own puppies, was depressed when all six of her puppies died in an accident, leaving her in mourning, according to Barkpost

So tiny and young, the piglets smell a little different than Gouzai's puppies and look a lot different than the puppies too. However, they are still babies in need of a mother, and Gouzai was a mother in need of some babies, which brought about the species-crossing love of a mother and her new charges to raise. A real mother is a nurturer, and Gouzai proves to be a real mother.

"At first the piglets were shy, but now they follow her around like their own mother," said Gouzai's owner, according to the Daily Mail. Gouzai feeds her little sweet piggies about six times a day now and finishes each feeding with a tongue bath, just as she would do to her puppies.

The owner has empty nest syndrome herself, with her grown children all out of the home now, so she understands the need to nurture that Gouzai has and has recognized what a key family member the sweet Akita is, as she spends any non-mothering time snuggled up to her loving owner.
