When Harvest Home Rescue took in a little guinea pig that had been squeezed so hard her back end was paralyzed, in what had to have been a horrific abusive situation, the rescue took a deep breath, evaluated the situation and came up with a plan.

The friendly girl, now named Estella, was found on the side of the road in Calaveras County, Calif., according to the Daily Mail. Lucky for Estella, a good Samaritan found her and her little boyfriend Pip, and took them to the local animal shelter.

"Estella, along with her boyfriend Pip, was left at an animal shelter in Calaveras County in the spring," said Christine Morrissey of Harvest Home Rescue, according to the Dodo. "She received no pain relief or vet care for an entire month."

"Although she is now safe with us, Estella is plagued by a permanent disability. She no longer has use of her lower limbs or back. But, she has a strong will to survive," Morrissey said.

"She has the will to move around like all other guinea pigs," added Morrissey. So the rescue came up with a fundraiser to get Estella a "wheelchair" of sorts, something to enable her to live a full guinea pig life.

Harvest Home felt that safety was important, yes, but they wanted more for Estella - they wanted to give her the best quality of life that she could have. This little piggy has been through a lot and it's time for her to shine.

And shine she has! Wait until you see her new wheels! Estella's new wheelchair came in just this week, and everyone is thrilled with the results.

"Estella's new custom wheelchair is almost ready to ride," Morrissey said. "Just a few more adjustments and it's time to rock and roll!"

Roll on, sweet Estella!
