Jon Stewart has done it all. After hosting late night TV shows, professional boxing events, lobbying for 9/11 first responders and producing shows for television, Stewart has announced that he will be moving on to animal care.

During an event on Oct. 24, the veteran television personality announced his plans of turning his farm in Middletown, New Jersey, into a sanctuary for neglected animals along with his wife Tracey, who is a trained veterinary technician, reported Country Living.

Talking about her experience as a vet tech, she said that the work "gave me a kind of purpose in this world. And also, I felt macho," reported Elle.

The couple share their home with two horses, two pigs, four dogs, three rabbits, two guinea pigs, one hamster, one bird and two fish, apart from their two children, a son and daughter ages 10 and 9.

The Stewart's farm will be the fourth property to be affiliated with Farm Sanctuary. Founded in 1986, Farm Sanctuary fights factory farming while increasing awareness about farm animals.

Tracey recently published a book about the matter as well. Describing her book, "Do Unto Animals: A Friendly Guide to How Animals Live, and How We Can Make Their Lives Better," Tracey said that it was a collection of her experiences and a guide on how-to care about the animals in our lives.

"I'd like people to start to look at animals as individuals. If everyone did a bit more, if they fell in love a little bit more, so much could happen. It doesn't have to be going vegan. You can advocate for them. You can show tenderness. You can play music for them. I really hope people can connect with animals the way most of us did as children," said Tracey.

"We talk about taking in 'rescue animals.' But the truth is, just as often, animals rescue us," said Tracey, reported the New York Times.
