Nebraska wide receiver De'Mornay Pierson-El suffered a gruesome leg injury in the second quarter while celebrating with his team after they scored a touchdown, according to John Taylor of NBC Sports.

Pierson-El's leg is seen bent backwards in a photo posted by Mike'l Severe on Twitter. The injury came after quarterback Ryker Fyfe threw a twenty-yard touchdown pass to try and get the Cornhuskers back in the game. Pierson-El suffered the injury while jumping with his teammates in celebration, which is common in football.

Earlier this season, Norte Dame safety Drue Tranquil tore his ACL celebrating after breaking up a pass in the endzone. The severity of the injury is unknown at this time, but Pierson-El was taken off the field on a cart and was seen with crutches and a brace that is covering the majority of his left leg.

The Cornhuskers starting quarterback Tommy Armstrong, who is not playing Saturday due to injury, used his Twitter account to try to bring Pierson-El's spirits up.

The sophomore wide receiver was getting more snaps in the offense recently and was a consensus Freshman All-American. Pierson-El had caught 12 passes for 111 yards and a touchdown in the last five games for the Cornhuskers. The significance of the injury is unclear, but it looks like Pierson-El will be out for some time.
