Former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice and his wife Janay Rice donated cheerleading uniforms to a neighborhood in Southwest Baltimore that is working to clean itself up from crime and blight, according to Luke Broadwater of the Baltimore Sun.

"We wanted to give these little girls something to look forward to," said Rice, via the Baltimore Sun. "It was a no-brainer. I still want to be attached to the Baltimore community."

Rice's now-wife Janay designed the new team's uniforms, according to Ben Rohrbach of Yahoo! Sports. Former Ravens defensive end Michael McCrary has already purchased new uniforms for the Seminoles football team, and Rice wanted to be involved with helping the community.

"It makes me feel that people care about us," said cheerleader Chynia Dorsey, according to the Baltimore Sun. "People say Baltimore kids are trouble. This makes us feel awesome." Rice and others are trying to help the neighborhood that has dealt with poverty and crime for years.

The NFL's football operations department reportedly supports Ray Rice and believes the former NFL running back deserves a second chance. Rice has taken a stand against domestic violence after his Atlantic City incident, and is trying to prove that he is not just talking, with all his work in different communities.

It's unclear why no team has brought in Rice for a workout, while a player like Greg Hardy continues to play. Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones reportedly wants to sign Hardy to a long-term deal, and it's unclear why a player with no remorse is rewarded for his actions.
