Seeing men wearing headbands outside of the gym or the sports arena seems unlikely, but it looks like fashion is dictating otherwise.

Those thin bands women wear to groom their hair or as a style statement are slowly being incorporated into men's wear, too. In fact, a recent Roberto Cavalli runway show featured men with boho-inspired hairbands, according to Buzzfeed. However, the style is not a completely new concept.

Men wearing headbands are common among athletes who need to wear these to keep sweat off their foreheads while in the game, but young celebrities like Justin Bieber and Harry Styles, have also been seen donning the accessory as a way to get more creative with their looks, according to Twist Magazine.

"This trend is transitioning from star athletes to major names in the Hollywood scene," hairstylist Julien Farel told GQ, which has also identified stars like Zac Efron and Jake Gyllenhaal with male headbands.

For men who would like to try the look, Farel has a tip: "Put it on right after you get out of the shower while your hair is wet to help train the hair to go the way you want it to, and once your hair is damp, apply some flexible gel or gloss to tame fly-aways."

You could use a bandana if those thin bands for women won't do. There are two ways to wear bandana headbands, either around your forehead or just above the hairline, which works for longer hair, according to Made Man.
