George and Amal Clooney adopted a 4-year-old rescue basset hound mix named Millie from California's San Gabriel Valley Humane Society Wednesday, reported Us Weekly.

The shelter shared the news on Facebook, along with a photo of the married couple with their new pup and their other dog Louie, a 10-year-old cocker spaniel George rescued in March from a New York City shelter.

The photo's caption read: "ADOPTED! Millie was adopted by George Clooney and his wife Amal!! Millie, a basset hound, now has a new brother named Louie who is also a rescue! Congratulations and thank you for adopting!!"

According to the shelter's website, Millie is a short-legged and long-eared dog. She was found homeless and begging for scraps outside a local restaurant in San Gabriel earlier this month before being taken in by the shelter.

"It was a happy day at the shelter for Millie!" wrote the shelter on its website. "She is a 4-year-old Basset Hound mix with gorgeous looks that would land her on any 'Hush Puppies' commercial!"

Apparently, before the adoption took place, the Clooneys were searching for a basset hound like Millie. According to the website, Millie came to the couple's attention when they saw a picture of her on Petfinder. However, before making a final decision, they wanted to make sure Millie and Louie got along.

"They did a 'meet and greet' with her and spent time introducing her to their other rescue," the site shared. "It was good news that Millie and Louie hit it off and the happy, new family headed home together! We hope Millie will stay in touch and send photos. Congratulations to the Clooney family and thank you for adopting!"

"It definitely added to the excitement on one of our busiest afternoons when we do vaccinations for the public. They took the time to get to know her and vice versa, making sure she was a good fit for their other rescue dog, and would be a good family member," shelter spokesperson Lynn Collmann told the Huffington Post.

George and Amal celebrated their first wedding anniversary Sept. 25. The two recently walked the red carpet for George's new film, "Our Brand is Crisis," starring Sandra Bullock and Billy Bob Thornton.
