A magnitude 7.5 earthquake was reported in three South Asian countries - Afghanistan, India and Pakistan - late Monday afternoon.

Four people were reported to have died in the north-western part of Pakistan after the quake.

People were seen running out of buildings as the strong tremor was felt across the northern part of India, according to Breaking News. The metro in New Delhi was stopped temporarily while in the Afghan town Kabul, the power went out in several areas.

In Lahore, Pakistan, phone lines went down, while walls swayed back and forth in Islamabad. People hurriedly left the buildings while reciting Quran verses, according to the Associated Press.

"That was by far the biggest and longest earthquake I have ever experienced. Hope it has not caused any damage and casualties!" Fazul Rahim, an NBC reporter based in Kabul, tweeted moments after the quake.

The USGS said that the earthquake's epicenter was centered 28 miles from the Afghan town Jarm and had an initial magnitude of 7.7.
