Mars Films released the first trailer for "Jane Got a Gun" on Wednesday, starring Natalie Portman, who plays the role of a woman who joins forces with her ex-lover (Joel Edgerton) in order to save her outlaw husband (Noah Emmerich) from a gang (led by Ewan McGregor) set out to kill him, according to Variety.

"Where is my daughter?" asks Jane in the trailer, with a gun cocked and aimed at the camera.

The Western-drama has had a troubled past with the film's original director Lynne Ramsay abandoning the project just days before filming began, and the film also saw the likes of Jude Law, Michael Fassbender and Bradley Cooper dropping out of the project in succession even before production resumed.

After production wrapped, the "Jane Got a Gun" distributor, Relativity Media, filed for bankruptcy and handed the rights back to the filmmakers. Gavin O'Connor took over as director of the project, and The Weinstein Co. picked up the distribution rights last month, as HNGN previously reported.

"Jane Got a Gun," is slated to hit theaters in the U.S. in February 2016.
