The Weinstein Co. (TWC) has announced that it would be releasing Natalie Portman starrer "Jane Got a Gun" in the U.S. in February of next year after Relativity let go of the film due to bankruptcy.

TWC was originally supposed to handle the film's marketing with Relativity in charge of distribution. However, since Relativity was headed for bankruptcy, the film's fate was in limbo, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Relativity filed for Chapter 11 on July 30. However, attorney David Boies, the Gavin O'Connor-directed Western film's principal backer, managed to extricate the project from Relativity just before the filing.

"We have a longstanding relationship with David Boies and Zack Schiller (Producer)," TWC COO and president David Glasser said. "We are obviously very excited by the cut of the movie and the way it turned out. And we decided to come in and take over the release."

"Jane Got a Gun" has had a troubled past with the film's original director, Lynne Ramsay, leaving the project on the first day of filming. The film also saw the likes of Jude Law, Michael Fassbender and Bradley Cooper dropping out of the project in succession even before production resumed.

The film, which also stars Ewan McGregor and Noah Emmerich, will get a November release in Europe, according to Entertainment Weekly.
