Meet the pooch selfie.

When something comes along so genius and so simple, that hits the mark perfectly, it's easy to wonder why we didn't think of it. But having an inventor-of-sorts mind is a gift. Seeing something difficult and coming up with the exact final piece of the puzzle to make it work effortlessly is brilliant - just like the pooch selfie.

As the products website states clearly, "the pooch selfie takes advantage of a dog's natural draw and focus to a tennis ball..." and indeed it does.

The pooch selfie has a simple attachment that works on cellphones of tablets, and allows the user to attach their bright colored tennis ball to the top, according to NPR. This brings the dogs focus up to the phone, for a picture perfect selfie with an eager, happy dog that appears to stare at the camera. Genius!

Jason Hernandez, a happy San Diego dog owner, came up with the pooch selfie after watching his wife's failed attempt to get a decent picture of their rescued pitbulls, according to The Huffington Post.

"It doesn't change the nature of your dog," Hernandez explained, meaning that if your dog isn't toy-motivated, it's not likely to work. But you can even add spots favorite squeaky toy if that's what floats his boat, according to Life With Dogs.

"Simply remove the Pooch Selfie ball for a few squeaks and regain your dog's focus and then place back into the attachment for some awesome pics!" according to the pooch selfie Kickstarter page.

So for those of us without a third arm out of the way to hold a toy or treat to keep Fido's attention, while we use the other hand to snap the perfect pic, this sure will do the trick.
