The NFL will reportedly investigate Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel for a domestic dispute that occurred with his girlfriend, according to Sports Illustrated.

On Monday police released dash-cam footage of the incident, and Manziel's girlfriend Colleen Crowley is heard telling police officers that she had been hit several times and feared for her life. Crowley did not wish to press charges against Manziel and the two were allowed to drive off together.

The police report stated that Manziel admitted to having two alcoholic drinks but was not intoxicated. Crowley was intoxicated, according to the police report. The incident occurred on Oct. 12 and was released to the public this past Friday.

Crowley used her Instagram account to inform people that the two were fine and that the dispute was just an argument that was private, according to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport.

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said it is normal procedure to investigate incidents that violate the NFL's personal conduct policy, according to Sports Illustrated. Browns head coach Mike Pettine confirmed the NFL's investigation but did not give any timetable as to when there would be a resolution.

Manziel was active this past weekend against the Denver Broncos, which bothered some people. "I'm not of that mind that all discipline has to be public," said Pettine, via Sports Illustrated. "If you think we're turning a cheek to it and ignoring it, you'd be dead wrong. I get the concern and I get outcry and I know everything with him is magnified times a thousand. He's made a lot of strides and this is a process for him and I know it's something that is upsetting. It's upsetting for all of us."

Manziel has played in two games this season and has thrown for 354 yards with three touchdowns to one interception. The Browns have fallen to 2-4 on the season after losing to the Broncos on Sunday. It will be interesting to see what the NFL does in this situation and how the Browns handle their 2014 first-round draft pick.
